Most Romantic Restaurants in Singapore

Last Updated on 19 Oct 2026 • By Jeleen Rondon

Romance isn't one thing, so this shortlist isn't either. From the 29 restaurants on our romantic guide, these are the 10 we'd book first, each picked for a setting you'll remember as much as the meal. There's a French neo-brasserie inside a colonial chapel on Dempsey Hill, a cliffside Italian watching the sun drop into the South China Sea, a Michelin-starred room in a restored riverside warehouse, and an open-fire steakhouse on the Sentosa Cove marina. Prices run from a relaxed Amoy Street shophouse to a tasting menu worth saving for, and every one takes bookings on Chope.

    • Robertson Quay
    • French
Contemporary French fine dining inside a restored 19th-century warehouse at Robertson Quay, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Singapore River and the high-ceilinged room is filled with plants and custom teak. Executive Chef Laurence Tan builds vegetable-centric discovery menus around produce picked at its seasonal best.

Why we love it: It has held one Michelin star every year since 2019, and its Alpine Room offers a private, bespoke menu for two when you want the room to yourselves.

Best for: Milestone anniversaries and proposals over a long tasting menu.

Must try: A discovery menu; tell them about dietary needs and they build around it.

Location: 41 Robertson Quay, #02-02 Singapore Tyler Print Institute, Singapore 238236

    • Dempsey
    • French
French neo-brasserie from Chef-Patron Julien Royer, set inside a preserved colonial chapel atop Dempsey Hill and serving the home-cooking side of French cuisine. Alongside it, La Terrace pours a curated gin and tonic list with French-inspired sharing plates for slower evenings.

Why we love it: Dessert arrives with a show: the crepe Sou-zette is flambeed at your table with Grand Marnier, in a chapel dining room rated 4.7 for atmosphere.

Best for: A dressed-up dinner in the greenery of Dempsey Hill.

Must try: Claudine's bouillabaisse, then the crepe Sou-zette flambeed tableside.

Location: 39C Harding Road, Singapore 249541

    • Sentosa
    • Steakhouse
Open-fire steakhouse at W Singapore on the Sentosa Cove marina waterfront, sourcing from named farmers and cooking over live flame. Beef is dry-aged in two large glass cabinets built into the dining room, and the kitchen extends the ageing technique to duck and rainbow trout.

Why we love it: Couples get a shared centrepiece rather than two separate steaks: the dry-aged duck is built for two, and a selection of steak knives is offered at the table.

Best for: A carnivorous celebration dinner by the Sentosa Cove marina.

Must try: Omi wagyu sirloin A5 or the dry-aged duck for two, then the Berry Bomb.

Location: 21 Ocean Way, W Singapore - Sentosa Cove, Singapore 098374

    • Telok Blangah
    • Spanish
Spanish restaurant on the second floor of The Alkaff Mansion, a heritage building its own listing dates at 107 years old. The kitchen keeps its signature suckling pig, paellas and Spanish grills while leaning further into Basque cooking through a tie-up with the Basque Culinary Institute.

Why we love it: The seafood paella is its runaway favourite with 15 diner votes, and the hilltop mansion setting makes the walk in part of the occasion.

Best for: An occasion dinner in a heritage mansion above the city.

Must try: Paella de marisco, wagyu a la parrilla, then arroz con leche de la abuela.

Location: 10 Telok Blangah Green, Singapore 109178

    • Sentosa
    • Italian
Southern Italian restaurant in a garden setting at Sofitel Sentosa, with al fresco tables looking out over the South China Sea. Chef Bjoern Alexander and his team cook set and a la carte menus of octopus, paccheri and slow-braised beef cheek, with a tiramisu to finish.

Why we love it: Sunset is a fixture, not a fluke: an aperitivo hour runs daily from 5pm to 7pm, and weekend brunch adds pool access afterwards.

Best for: Sunset drinks before dinner on the cliff edge.

Must try: Chargrilled octopus with Iberico chorizo, then the paccheri di Gragnano.

Location: 2 Bukit Manis Road, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore 099891

    • Harbourfront
    • Fusion
Hilltop restaurant set in the greenery of Mount Faber, named after the Latin for a leafy enclosure, where continental comfort food is crossed with local flavours. Expect pasta hokkien mee, laksa barramundi, bamboo nasi lemak and chilli crab served with doughnuts.

Why we love it: Complimentary valet parking runs from 10am to 11pm daily, which makes an evening up the hill far simpler than the cable car suggests.

Best for: A green, unhurried dinner up the hill above the harbour.

Must try: Pasta hokkien mee, then chilli crab and doughnuts to share.

Location: 109 Mount Faber Road, Faber Peak Singapore, Singapore 099203

    • Marina Bay
    • French
Chef Daniel Boulud's bayside French restaurant at The Shoppes, built around the comforts of the French family table: moules frites, wagyu cote de boeuf and an award-winning wine list, with a seafood platter of oysters, Maine lobster, clams and prawns.

Why we love it: From 5pm the promenade floor opens as a breezy waterfront terrace for sharing plates and cocktails, so dinner can start outside and move in.

Best for: A waterfront apéritif on the terrace that turns into dinner.

Must try: The premium seafood platter to share, then the durian souffle.

Location: 10 Bayfront Avenue, B1-15 & #01-83 The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore 018956

Which restaurant should I book for a proposal or anniversary?

Restaurant JAG is the most special-occasion pick, with one Michelin star every year since 2019 and a private Alpine Room built around bespoke menus. Claudine, set in a preserved colonial chapel on Dempsey Hill, is the other strong choice, and its crepe Sou-zette is flambeed at your table.

Where can we watch the sunset on a date in Singapore?

The Cliff at Sofitel Sentosa runs a sunset aperitivo daily from 5pm to 7pm, with al fresco tables over the South China Sea. Maison Boulud opens its promenade terrace at Marina Bay Sands from 5pm, and Arbora sits in the greenery of Mount Faber above the harbour.

Are there romantic restaurants in Singapore that aren't fine dining?

Yes. Birds of a Feather occupies two conservation shophouses on Amoy Street, serving Sichuan-influenced plates until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

How far ahead should we book a romantic dinner?

Book early. Several venues here showed no availability at a 7pm slot when we checked, and Restaurant JAG charges $150 per diner for cancellations inside 72 hours. For Valentine's Day and anniversaries, most kitchens switch to set menus, so confirm the format when you reserve.

Do these restaurants have dress codes?

Several do. UNA at The Alkaff Mansion requires smart attire and turns away slippers and shorts, Claudine sits in a fine-dining bracket, and Restaurant JAG asks for smart casual and admits only children aged 10 and above. Check each listing before you go.
