Description
Spizza is the go-to pizza parlour for loads of local foodies, known for its consistently outstanding wood-fired pies and reasonably priced Italian mains.
Spizza might not look like your nonna's authentic pizzeria, relying on strict recipes in a white table clothed dining room. Instead, with a contemporary interior and endlessly personalized pizzas and pastas, this place is all about pleasing every type of diner that ambles in. The Balmoral Plaza outlet features a spacious outdoor terrace with garden lined views and plenty of clean-lined, modern seating.
Despite its current look, you might be surprised to learn that several key components in their tasty dishes are sourced the good old-fashioned way. Ingredients hailing from the motherland include tomatoes, mushrooms, artichokes, and the insanely tasty ham from Parma. These goodies are used liberally in house made compositions, all named after Italian ladyloves, and wood fired by the custom built oven. The resulting crust is cracker thin with just enough char to hold up against the flavourful toppings and cheese.
The Isabella is a longtime crush, with mozzarella, Parma ham, juicy tomatoes, rocket leaves and shards of peppery parmesan. If you prefer some curves over the skinny version, you can opt for your pizza gondola-style with a fluffy, boat shaped crust and toppings turned into innings filling it up. Every month, there's a specialty Star Pizza and Star Pasta created with gourmet, seasonal ingredients that are always a good bet. Or else you can create your own pizza and pasta with heaps of delicious tidbits to work with. For dessert, the Zara sweet pizza is a heartbreaker, with luscious Nutella, banana and crisp almond flakes topping that incredible crispy crust! (Feb 2015)
