    It was my first time trying expensive food, but unfortunately, the taste was disappointing. Most of the dishes lacked flavor and did not adhere to traditional preparation methods. I felt that the overall experience was not worth the cost.

    Description

    Shisen Hanten, located at Hilton Singapore Orchard is the restaurant chain’s debut outside of Japan, sets the stage for Executive Chef Chen Kentaro to introduce Japan’s best-loved Szechwan restaurant to audiences in Singapore.

    Started in Japan, 1958 by the late Chen Kenmin, he was highly regarded as a culinary legend, “Father of Szechwan Cuisine” in the country. His legacy was carried on by his son Chen Kenichi, nicknamed “The Szechwan Sage”, and earned wide acclaim as one of the country’s most celebrated iron chefs. In turn, Chen Kenichi passed down his love of Szechwan cuisine to his son, Chen Kentaro. Continuing the family tradition, Chen Kentaro picked up the tools of the trade and is a rising star in Japan’s culinary scene, often appearing on several popular cooking shows.

    Shisen Hanten distinguishes its Szechwan cuisine with a contemporary take, emphasizing the seven fundamental flavors that give Szechwan food a distinct boldness – sour, spicy, hot, sweet, bitter, aromatic, and salty.
