    Description

Located on Serangoon road in Little India, this lovely gem serves up vegetarian Indian snacks and desserts. Its roots date back to the social enterprise Arpanam, which was started by the Nadathur family who was involved in the founding of technology giant Infosys. The menu boasts an array of light bites bursting with flavour at pocket-friendly prices. All proceeds from sales go directly into supporting local artists and cultural programs.

Dig in to one of their Medhu Vadais, a crispy, deep-fried savoury donut. Made with urad dal and rice, as well as a special mix of spices, these little bites of heaven come with coconut chutney, giving them a spicy kick. For something a little moreish, opt for the Idli-Vadai combination. The Idli is made with ground rice batter that is steamed to fluffy perfection. There are even curries like Poondu Rasam and side dishes like Murungukkai Pachadi that can be ordered with your choice of rice - or millet for a healthier option.

Prefer something a little more saccharine? Try the Paruppu Payasam with Jackfruit. Made with Moong Dal, milk, sugar, and fruit, this dish is delectably sweet and perfect for diners who want to indulge their sweet tooth. (Mar 2019)
