    Description

In the bustling heart of Hanoi, one name has endured for over four decades as a symbol of authenticity and culinary mastery: Pho Thìn 13 Lò Đuc. More than a pho restaurant, it is the life's work of its founder, Mr. Nguyễn Trong Thìn, who transformed his artistic vision into one of Vietnam's most iconic culinary brands.

Originally trained as a sculptor and television artist, Mr. Thin left his career in the late 1970s to pursue his passion for food. At a time when pho shops crowded Hanoi, he was determined to create a bowl that would stand apart. Inspired by his artistic background, he experimented with flavors like colors on a canvas, combining animal proteins and vegetables for a broth that was naturally rich and sweet. He perfected a method of stir-frying thin slices of beef in a flaming hot pan before layering them over noodles. This innovation gave birth to Pho bo tai lan, a half-done stir-fried beef pho, a bold new style that quickly captivated locals.

Success, however, did not come immediately. In the early days, Mr. Thin's small shop sat empty while queues formed at a neighbor's. Determined, he began stir-frying beef in front of the restaurant, letting the aroma draw in curious diners. Soon, his pho became the talk of Hanoi. From those humble beginnings, Pho Thìn 13 Lo Duc grew into a culinary institution, attracting locals, international travelers, and critics alike. Today, with 16 outlets in Vietnam and international stores in Japan, Australia, Indonesia, America, and now Singapore, Pho Thìn 13 Lò Đuc continues to share Hanoi's most distinctive bowl of pho.

Guided by Mr. Thin's philosophy, "What you give away, you keep forever", every bowl reflects authenticity, consistency, and passion. Now Singaporeans can finally savor Hanoi's Punggol Container Park; this is a legacy that is over 40 years in the making. (Mar 2026)
