    Description

Fans of Penang street food will find familiar favourites here at Penang Culture. The Assam Laksa here is this restaurant’s signature dish, and it’s not hard to see why — tamarind is used generously for the soup base, infused with aromatic ginger flower and plenty of belacan for an addictively spicy-sour dish. Another dish not to be missed is the Penang-style Fried Koay Teow. The flat rice noodles are expertly tossed in a wok for that smoke-kissed char, loaded with chunks of sweet crab meat, succulent prawns, and salted egg to amp up the flavours. And whether your flight lands in the morning or at night, the Penang White Curry Mee with Seafood is a good breakfast and supper option. The spicy noodle creamy soup comes with fresh cockles, cuttlefish and prawns, as well as plump tau pok ‘pillows’ to sop up all of that lemak gravy. Wash it all down with Penang White Coffee, or a refreshing Pandan and Lemongrass drink. (Dec 2018)
