    Description

    Headed up by a pair of talented fresh grads, Lola's Cafe has brunch aficionados all over town heading down the Circle Line to Simon Road.

    For a cafe to stand out amongst the bevvy of breakfast-themed options that dot the island, it must be very good. Such is the case with Lola's, which has relied mostly on word of mouth to win over the stomachs of anyone who enjoys fresh baked pastries, eggs and coffee. And really, who doesn't? The youthful, communal space is furnished by brightly coloured bits and bobs, along with plenty of the requisite raw concrete, wood, and chalkboards you'd expect. The space is pint-sized and buzzing with energy, which they need in heaps to make all items, from tarts to toast, in house.

    From the all-day snacks menu, the Honey Paprika Wings seem to be the fan favourite, with a light smokiness from the paprika that doesn't quite verge on spicy, sealed in with a sticky coating of savoury honey. The Truffle Fries with grated parmesan cheese and Nacho Cheese Fries are very tasty indeed, though you can rarely go wrong with a cheese and potato pairing.

    The more original fare is what shines with particular brilliance here, like the Avocado Eggs Benedict with a thick slice of buttery avo atop hefty brioche, well-executed poached eggs and a perfect hollandaise. The richness of the smooth avocado is simply genius and makes us wonder why it doesn't pop up on more benny stacks. The lovely caramelised Banana Earl Grey Tart won't deny you true tea flavour, with a flaky crust and crunch of pistachio to round out the full dimension of the dessert.
