    Description

On the streets of Upper Thomson Road lies King Of Wagyu, an obscure little butchery, which sells Halal-sourced Wagyu that’s imported from Japan. It also functions as a cozy dine-in that can only accommodate 12 to 14 people at one time.

King of Wagyu is founded by Michael and Ian, who was a commercial director and an executive chef respectively, and they merged their knowledge and experience to deliver quality products and services.

Michael’s father, known to be the king of the family, loved to eat beef. Watching his dad enjoy the experience of eating quality wagyu beef gave him a sense of satisfaction. He was inspired to start a shop to share his love of wagyu with others for the sake of his dad, thus naming it; “King Of Wagyu.” Unfortunately, his father passed on shortly before the shop officially opened.

King Of Wagyu brings in A5 black cattle Wagyu (which is known to be the best quality) from different prefectures in Japan like Tokushima. This is to allow their customers to experience Wagyu from different regions. Their butchery sells them in a variety of cuts including A5 Wagyu Ribeye (S$34 for 100g), and A5 Wagyu Tenderloin (S$37 for 100g).

Besides providing quality Wagyu, they also work with Grobrix, which is a local indoor aeroponics farm. They grow their greens indoors and harvest them for use in their kitchen once a month.

Their dine-in lunch menu mainly offers a selection of sando sandwiches such as Mentaiko Chicken Katsu (S$18), Nutty Curry A5 Wagyu Patty (S$22), and Truffle A5 Wagyu Patty (S$24)— served with their in-house grown salad.

Dinner-wise, King Of Wagyu offers diners a choice of their quality Wagyu cuts from the butchery. Cooking charges (S$10-S$40) are based on the weight (150g minimum) of the meat chosen, with a minimum of one side dish— Home Grown Salad (S$4), Sauteed Mushroom (S$5) or KOW Mash Potato (S$6). As they’re still in their soft launch phase, they will be offering their farm-to-table dinner service from 5pm – 8pm from Fridays To Sundays only.

Head down now to enjoy quality A5 Japanese Wagyu steaks cooked by Chef Ian, or bring these wonderful meats home from their butchery to enjoy them with your family. The choice is yours! (Jan 2023)
