    Crocquetas is a classic starter. Octopus and paella is a must. Service is very polite and attentive. Ask for counter seats so you get to see the the chefs in action.

    Celebrated our 15th Anniversary. Wanted to get tasting menu but was prevented as there was a 2 hour constraint on our table that we did not know about. Ordered 3 items from snacks, 2 from soil, 2 from sea, 3 from land, 2 desserts and drinks. Disappointed that there was not even a mention of our celebration. Bill was given to us after 1 hr and 20 min and we weren’t even done eating. Realized restaurant was just a nice place to hang out but not to celebrate special occasions.

    If there were an award for the most consistent dining experience, Esquina would undoubtedly claim the title. The service is earnest and the food, spectacular. While classics like the Uni Paella, Octopus and Suckling Pig remain fan favourites, to me, the 'Soil' section steals the show by showcasing vegetables in a remarkable way. The Baked Sweet Potato dish, in particular, featuring a smoked quail egg and a piquant yellow pepper sauce, is irresistible. I could have easily inhaled the entire sharing portion on my own. It's no wonder that even after 12 years in business, every table was occupied when we visited over the weekend. I am already anticipating my return!

    Description

    If you're a tapas lover, you've probably already met, fallen for, and likely tried to marry Esquina, a charming hole-in-the-wall restaurant wrapped around a corner of Jiak Chuan in Keong Saik. With nostalgic Spanish kitchen curios and rough-hewn textures, the final product is a modern depiction of an urban canteen in Seville.

    Esquina takes pride in staying ahead of the dining scene in Singapore, and they have the perfect chef for it. With Chef Carlos Montobbio's curiosity for new flavours and techniques, guests can always expect exciting offerings on the menu. The word "evolution" is the guiding principle of his culinary philosophy, and his contemporary take on Spanish and Catalan food that is crafted with quality produce, completes the dining experience here.

    While the second storey offers a quieter and equally quaint setting, you might prefer to sit around the frenetic open kitchen on the ground floor to marvel at the works of art being created not two feet away. Perfectly tender Grilled Spanish Octopus, the deceptively plain-sounding Croquetas, and more indulgent Uni Paella are just a few of the delicious plates you can find on the five-sectioned menu. The tiny digs may leave you without a seat if you haven't made a reservation, but Esquina is definitely worth the wait. (Jul 2023)
