    Description

Our Khunyai Somsri (Khun Yai in Thai means grandmother), the origin of Supanniga’s recipes, was born in Trat, an eastern coastal province rich in seafood and lush wild produce. She enjoyed a simple, joyful Thai village life before moving to Khon Kaen to care for her grandchildren. There, family and friends fell in love with her authentic, memorable Thai cooking.

Her recipes became cherished family heirlooms, passed down through generations, and eventually inspired the founding of Supanniga Eating Room in Bangkok in 2012. The restaurant’s vibrant yellow is inspired by the Supanniga flowers blooming in Khunyai’s family garden. Inside, traditional Isan tools like the mai fuem (an Isan weaving loom) and kabom (an Isan antique sticky-rice dryer), combined with warm wood and terracotta, evoke cozy memories of delightful meals enjoyed at grandma’s table.

Supanniga Tha Tien has served both locals and visitors with flavorful regional Thai cuisine in the majestic atmosphere of Chao Phraya River and spectacular view of the Temple of Dawn, one of Bangkok’s iconic architectures. It tells one woman’s story of life journey settling through different regions in Thailand, fusing different vibes, flavors and cultures together by having Tha Tien as a backdrop where the stories collide. It is the juxtaposi-tion between old and new.
