    Description

Sushi Cyu is a Bangkok institution. For more than 25 years, it has been serving up sushi to the city’s raw-fish mad population, who flock to this restaurant for its quality sushi at reasonable prices. Whether it’s the delights of a seasonally-driven Omakase menul, or the grandeur and elegance of a traditional Keiseiki multi-course meal, this is the place for all lovers of good Japanese food. Apart from the usual sushi and sashimi options, expertly made to order by a team of Japanese chefs, highlights here include the restaurant’s signature Bara Chirashi, a bowlful of cubed sashimi atop lightly seasoned rice, as well as the comforting Oyako Don, featuring a still-wobbly egg layer atop tender chunks of chicken.

Not all the seafood is raw: the charcoal grill turns out plate after plate of delicious, flame-kissed seafood. Think a teriyaki-drenched Grilled Mackerel, or the signature Gindara Misoyaki, a wonderfully oily fillet of cod brushed with miso before meeting the coals. Do not leave without trying the tender Yakiniku, which is the other claim to fame here apart from the sushi. Stack the table high with other dishes, like tempura, pork tonkatsu, soba, and udon, for a full Japanese experience. But at the end of the day, sushi is king at this beloved Bangkok institution.
