    I always love the food at Rangoon Tea House and this is also the main reason I keep coming back. This was not the first time though that I had an issue with the service, especially the request for water. To be honest, I find it difficult to accept that you only serve very expensive mineral water, flown in from far away, and not serve a local water at a lower price point. Especially as the waiters keep pouring water all the time & opening new bottles, even when you ask them not to do it (this didn't happen yesterday, but in my previous 2 visits). Yesterday we had a water debacle + language issue, as my guests didn't want to pay for expensive, unsustainable water, and we were also brought the wrong bottle of wine. There seemed to be an issue not only with understanding, but also language (both in Thai and English). Furthermore, the staff is lovely, but we had quite a serious discussion and they kept interrupting our chat to explain the food to us.

    About Rangoon Tea House Tea Shop culture in Myanmar is something that has bound the country together for the last hundred years. The tea, the food, the ambience, all of these different factors paint a picture of the history and complexity of all the people who inhabited this county.

    Each tea shop is an institution that every Burmese person has a fond, nostalgic memory of. It was born during a time when Rangoon was considered one of the foremost cultural melting pots in the world, during the early 1900s. We opened Rangoon Tea House not only to pay homage to what existed but also to continue the tradition of taking inspiration from all who pass through our doors.
