    probably a bit overpriced for what you get.. but all in all the dishes were excellent. However, if you send out special e-mails to remind people of strictly respecting your dress code and when we arrived we find people in shorts and slippers... then you should review your policy

    Though not cheap, this creative and excellently realised northern Thai cuisine restaurant would deserve better rating from the Michelin guide than currently. Overall a really great experience worth the money.

    North was founded by owners from Northern Thailand who seek to shed light on Lanna cuisine in a fine dining setting — something that is still missing in Bangkok. Lanna people are an ethnic group from the northern region of Thailand known as Lanna. This cuisine is characterised by its use of fresh, local ingredients and unique blends of spices and flavours. Once you step inside, you will be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with dim lighting, plush seating and a sleek, modern design. North restaurant Bangkok is located in a colonial-style villa that was built almost 100 years ago as the residence of Mom Luang Nuam Snidvongs. North is meticulously designed so that the customers will be able to experience Lanna culture and gastronomy right in the heart of Bangkok.

    The menu at North Restaurant Watthana is a fusion of traditional Thai flavours and contemporary culinary techniques. They source essential ingredients from Northern Thailand and the chefs are from Chiang Rai Province, which was the epicentre of Lanna civilization. The unique taste of Lanna cuisine is derived from influences from Shan, Burmese, Laotian and Yuannanese cuisines. Steamed sticky rice is the preferred staple which matches perfectly with Northern favourites such as spicy dips (nam priks), fermented pork sausage (naem), minced meat salads (larbs) and spicy grilled sausages (sai oua).
