      Description

      Japanese cuisine has a lot to offer and Emquartier’s MUGENDAI PENTHOUSE appears to be the place where you can enjoy it all. As in all good restaurants, the ingredients are flown in fresh each week – as often as five out of the seven days at times – and immediately put to good use in the form of mind-blowing creations.

      Prepare to be surprised by unique options like Tennen Unagi Foie Gras Maki, which consists of grilled wild fresh water eel and foie gras, Cheese Fondue Miso Flavour where diners get to dip snow crabs and sea urchin in miso melted cheese, and the crispy sweet jumbo shrimp and shredded potato of the Botan Ebi Mino Age. So diverse is the menu, however, that there’s more to Mugendai than fusion fare. Be comforted by the prerequisite sashimi and sushi offerings, shabu shabu pots, and a variety of more familiar dishes like Yasai Tempura Moriawase (mixed vegetables tempura), Kani Karaage (deep fried soft shell crab), and Aburi Salmon salad.

      It’s becoming relatively easy to find a restaurant where the produce is sublime and much thought is put into ensuring the authenticity of the plates, but Mugendai takes it up a notch by adding a repertoire of unusual fare. If you’re looking to inject a breath of fresh air into your meal whilst sampling the best of Japan, MUGENDAI PENTHOUSE is an apt choice. (Apr 2016)
