Description
The Aria is a progressive Asian restaurant located on Jln. Batu Belig, Bali. The restaurant’s kitchen boasts a large open shelved wood fire cooker opening onto the spacious joglo restaurant. The Aria specialises in traditional Southeast Asian cooking methods on an open flame, especially slow wood fired cooking in organic materials like smoking meats in bamboo, steaming and firing rice in banana leaves and kiln cooking curries and soups on the fire.

The inspiration for The Aria comes from honouring the traditional process of using natural elements to prepare and cook authentic Asian food. It is a modernisation of the traditional, with respect to the flavours, sauces, spices, curing, smoking and raw elemental cooking.

The name ‘The Aria’ is Latin meaning “air” and in Bahasa Indonesia the name ‘Aria’ means “noble”. The large open joglo that houses The Aria feels grand and noble, with a rich heritage to Indonesian artistry, allowing a natural and pleasant air flow through the restaurant. The Southeast Asian cooking method of fanning and airing food cooked on fire mixing the air with the flames circled back to the inspiration and name, The Aria.

The Aria’s focus is on the air and the fire, the core elements needed for cooking. The Aria seeks to strip back where the practices of food preparation and cooking came from, and how we can respect and honour the process whilst developing and progressing, with alternative combinations.

The Aria is a family friendly restaurant with a large open plan joglo backing on to a large lawn with a pond and children’s outdoor play area overlooking the rice fields. A private indoor dining room is available for parties and events.
