Founded in 2014, Corner House is the articulation of a culinary vision by creative restaurateur and
wine aficionado Renny Heng. Its name references the eminent botanist E.J.H. Corner, whose former
abode is now a fabled, irreplaceable Black and White Colonial House and the sophisticated setting
for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Its location in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Botanic Gardens
sets the stage for a multi-layered meal that combines its storied past, the botanical bounty of the

Since taking the helm of Corner House in March, just two weeks before stringent Covid-19 measures
took hold of the island-state, Executive Chef David Thien has spent his time dreaming up culinary journeys for returning guests. Even while the restaurant team contributed to feeding frontline heroes during this period, Chef Thien was inspired to compose a poem for the description of a mystery dish. Finally, with the lifting of dining-in restrictions on 19 June, Corner House is thrilled to reopen to the public with a daringly original new menu that showcases its prowess in contemporary seasonal cuisine.
Since its opening in 2014, Corner House has earned multiple recognitions including the award of one-Michelin-star since 2016 and a rise to #42 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 list. The
appointment of French-Chinese-Mauritian David Thien ushers in a fresh perspective as he debuts an exploratory world of fine flavors, inspired by his adopted home of Singapore since 2007.
The eagerly anticipated new menu at Corner House showcases intimate sessions where Chef Thien prepares dishes inspired by personal stories, thoughts, and memories. The dining experience is designed to inspire and surprise. He elaborates, “My hope is that guests develop a deeper
appreciation and connection with the food that they eat, relishing the thought behind it.”
The menu continues to be organized by three, five, and seven-course sets for lunch, and five, seven, and chef’s course for dinner. Guests are presented with chapters authored by chefs, detailing stories
accompanied by visuals that delve into each ingredient or concept. The menu is dynamic and everchanging to adapt to the seasons, sources, and customers. (Jun 2020)

"I was invited to the official opening lunch and returned on my own for dinner afterward. At both meals, there wasn't a single bad dish. Everything on the plates was carefully crafted with high-quality ingredients and a lot of finesse, with results ranging from good to excellent." -The Straits Times
"Restaurant trends seem to be swimming away from fine dining fanciness in favor of casual fun. Corner House is a nice bridge between the two with haute cuisine dished up with a comfy vibe." -Time Out Singapore
"Uber romantic space aside, the food certainly lives up to all its refined glory. The chef manages to beautifully balance proteins and veg without relegating one or the other as the supporting actor in a given dish." -SG Now
