Located in the middle of Central’s Soho on Staunton Street, the new neighbourhood venue extends over two whole floors. Upon arrival patrons are immediately greeted with McSorley’s 8-meter wide façade where Irish flags hang down on the open front making it impossible to miss from the street. Like most conventional pubs, Soho’s McSorley’s Ale House is comfortable, casual and unpretentious. The expert team of designers have paid close attention to detail in creating the solid woodwork, brass plaques with classic Irish quote, wrought iron railings, vintage furnishings and comfortable brown leather sofas. The upstairs showcases large wood pillars and monumental photos on display, making the vibe seem almost colonial clubhouse-like. Upstairs also harbours its own separate entrance giving it a semi-privatized feel - perfect for corporate parties, private functions, or other sporting events alike. Televisions are fitted in two floors for guests to watch all major sporting events live from every seat.
Those familiar with the McSorley’s brand will know the traditional pub menu offers an extensive selection of hearty items. Appetizers include ‘Curry Chips’ – fries that have been triple-cooked and topped off with Indian Masala Gravy, or the lighter ‘Artichoke & Spinach Dip’ served with Grilled Garlic Naan, in addition to several other soup, salad and snack options. Those in need of a good fry up in Central may opt for ‘McSorley’s All-Day-Breakfast’ - a classic weekend favourite of 2 farm eggs of any style, Cumberland sausages, bacon, confit-portobello, baked beans, grilled loaf bread, and of course, black pudding. Alternatively diners may opt for one of McSorley’s many selections of homemade oven-baked pies including the ‘Savory Steak, Stilton & Guiness Pie’ – an all-time Irish classic. No pub is a pub without its signature burgers and sandwiches, so be sure to treat yourself to the ‘Premium Hand-Crafted Angus Burger’ (with 3 toppings of your choice) or the ‘Corned Beef Sandwich’ – think Guinness Caramelized Onions, Smoked Bacon & Raclette Cheese. For something sweeter choose from 3 different desserts including the decadent ‘Toffee Banoffee’ served with the ultimate custard and the crispiest chocolate finish.
