We have visited Poppies numerous times over the past 25 years, and along the way have seen the "ups" and "downs" of the hospitality industry in Bali. We have over all seen a decline in the old hospitality of Bali, just the small details, timely check in's on drinks, comfort of the guests, the food has remained at it's best though. We visit Poppies as a special treat, especially if we have newbies with us, the last visit did leave me feeling a little disappointed for our new guest. I will mention again the food was excellent.

Find us on Poppies Lane 1, named after us back then. Enter a hidden oasis, with classic rattan furnishings tucked into the verdant gardens or under the open pavilions. While local in atmosphere, Poppies Restaurant serves a diverse menu of both Indonesian specialties and international delights – food is hearty and wholesome, in tune with the welcoming surroundings.

For a true taste of Indonesia, the signature at Poppies Restaurant is the Rijsttafel, or ‘Rice Table’, a traditional smorgasbord of the archipelago’s delicacies. Seafood options are particular favourites, such as Catch of the Day cooked in garlic butter or with spicy sambal, and the juicy Lobster poached in white wine, or Thermidor or char-grilled with café de Paris. From Shish Kebabs served over smoking coals, to Thai Curries and imported Tenderloin Steaks, there’s something for everyone at Poppies. Leave space for dessert, like the signature Mango Cream Cheesecake, or classic Creme Brulée with tropical fruits.

The Poppies Bar is just as iconic. Many care-free conversations at this bar has led to life-long friendships and even marriage bells across the world, often triggered by our world-famous Poppies Piña Colada, presented in a fresh coconut carved into a Balinese ‘Barong’ mask. There are classic holiday cocktails, cold beers, and a selection of wines.
